Education
In the 2020-2021 academic year the regional education system had 12 secondary schools, a school for orphans, a sanatorium school, 5 preschool facilities, a regional center of after-school activities, a regional education center for children with disabilities.
Senno and Bogushevsk schools have classes with profound study of various subjects.
In line with the “Gifted and Talented Students” program regional schools have been organizing subject Olympiads, music and arts contests, sports competitions.
Culture and Mass Media
Leisure and entertainment facilities of the region include 36 clubs, an arts and crafts center, a museum of local lore. There are also two children’s arts schools and a music school.
There is also one regional, two children’s and 32 rural libraries. The regional library has a public legal information center.
In the Senno arts and crafts center one can learn weaving, making tapestries, cane and ceramic articles, embroidering, woodcutting and painting.
There are 23 places and objects of interest in the region, including two architectural, nine archeological, seven historical and five natural sights.
The Senno regional council of deputies and Senno regional executive committee co-founded the regional newspaper Golas Sennenshchyny published since May 1918 and the regional broadcasting studio Na Sennenskikh Prostorakh.
Sports
The Senno regional sports facilities include a 2,000-seat stadium, 17 gyms, seven shooting ranges, 15 football fields, over 50 sports grounds.
Talented sportsmen of the region are trained in Vitebsk and Novopolotsk colleges of Olympic reserve. Today 30 natives of the Senno region attend the abovementioned schools, of them 13 are biathletes.
No other region of Belarus can boast such a high number of promising athletes. 60% of Vitebsk oblast biathlon team are students of Senno sports school.
Healthcare
The medical establishments of the region include Senno regional hospital, Bogushevsk regional hospital, district hospital, out-patients departments, feldsher-midwife stations, clinics. The regional clinic has an ultrasonic device which helps diagnose various pathologies and provide relevant medical treatment.
In April 2002 a social security center was opened in the region. The main purpose of the center is to promote social security and material support of local residents, to improve their well-being and healthcare.
Religion
The ethnic and confessional situation in the region is stable.
There are three religious confessions and 14 religious communities, including eight Orthodox, one Roman-Catholic, two Evangel and two Evangel Baptist Churches, in the region. Many of them run Sunday schools for children. Two Orthodox Churches have more than 40 students.
