Belarus to take part in international opera singers contest in Estonia for first time

Soloists of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera Theater of the Republic of Belarus Oxana Volkova and Ilya Silchukov will represent Belarus at the 5th international contest of opera singer in Parnu. Their participation in the contest was organized by the general consulate of Belarus to Tallinn.

Some 85 people of 21 countries applied for the contest, BelTA learnt in the consulate. The jury headed by American singer Barbara Hendricks selected just 30 singers of 17 countries.

The results of the contest will be announced on June 8. Apart from prizes and diplomas the winners will get the right to perform in operas staged in the Parnu Concert Hall.
