Winter crops in Belarus have been sown on the area of 917,500 hectares, which is 63% of the target area (1,456,100 hectares), BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

Winter crops in Belarus have been sown on the area of 917,500 hectares, which is 63% of the target area (1,456,100 hectares), BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

The regional breakdown of the sowing progress is as follows: Brest Oblast (71% of the area has been cropped), Vitebsk Oblast (nearly 60%), Grodno Oblast (over 65%), Minsk Oblast (nearly (64%), Mogilev Oblast (66%), and Gomel Oblast (almost 52%).

Grain and leguminous crops (including corn) have been harvested from 2.113 million hectares (89.6% of the target area). Some 6.454 million tonnes of grain have been threshed. Minsk Oblast is leading with more than 1.6 million tonnes threshed. It is followed by Brest Oblast - more than 1.2 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast - more than 1.1 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast - 857,100 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 811,900 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 783,600 tonnes.
