Vitebsk hosts on-site session of office of commissioner for religions and nationalities

On June 22 Vitebsk will play host to a session of the office of the commissioner for religions and nationalities, BelTA has been told in the ideology department of the Vitebsk oblast executive committee.

The session will focus on the course of implementation in the oblast of the agreement on cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Belarusian Orthodox Church and also on the participation of the bodies responsible for the religion and nationality issues in settling the problems on allotment of land plots for construction of religious buildings and transfer of buildings to the religious organizations. The participants of the session will visit the religious sites of the Belarusian Orthodox Church and Roman-Catholic Church, get familiar with the activity of social institutions of the Belarusian Orthodox Church and the course of construction of religious buildings in Vitebsk.

Attending the session will be the deputy chairmen of the town and region executive committees, deputy heads of the administrations of Vitebsk districts supervising the ethnic and confessional issues, chiefs of the agencies concerned, archbishops of the Polotsk and Vitebsk eparchies, representatives of mass media.
