More than Br15 billion assigned for new academic year in Vitebsk oblast

More than Br15 billion has been assigned for educational establishments of the Vitebsk oblast to prepare for a new academic year, 1st deputy head of the education department of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee Leonid Stepanov told BelTA.

Renovating old schools the region is constructing new ones in Polotsk, Luzhesno and Glubokoe. Those schools have been included in the state investment program and the program “Children of Belarus”.

For instance, Polotsk secondary school #18 will become the first school in the oblast which will be constructed in line with the individual project. More than seven thousand students will be able to study in five buildings simultaneously. The school will have its own observatory, a gym which will occupy 600 square meters, a fitness room, a dining-hall seating 600 people and an assembly hall seating 450 people.

The sports center of the Luzhesno boarding school for gifted students will include a handball room - the only in the oblast.

Significant works are being carried out to prepare rural schools by September 1. More than 60 schools will be renovated in agro-towns this year.
