Delegation of FEZ Vitebsk to present investments projects in Slovakia

A delegation of the free economic zone (FEZ) Vitebsk will visit Slovakia on June 20-21.

The delegation will present investment projects in Bratislava and Zilina and conduct business meetings in the Zilina Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Charge d’Affaires ad Interim of Belarus to Slovakia Viktor Navrotsky told BelTA. Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nitra, the twin-town of Vitebsk, are likely to take part in the meetings as well.

The Belarus-Slovakia trade turnover in 2006 soared by 49.4% as against the previous year to reach $140 million. Exports grew by 38.5% to exceed $70 million. Now Slovakia ranks the 18th in exports among other trade partners of Belarus. Imports jumped by 62.4% to $69.5 million. The trade surplus totaled $883,000.

In January-April 2007 the trade turnover between Belarus and Slovakia made up $41.5 million having increased by 19.4% as against same time last year. Belarus has boosted the exports of potash fertilizers, fiber building boards and particle boards (almost twice), plywood (more than four-fold), metal products (eight-fold), flax yarn (three-fold), optics and furniture. Slovakia exported over $4 million worth of cars, $4 million worth of spare parts for cars and tractors, $2.5 million worth of equipment to Belarus.
