IMF mission starts its work in Belarus

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – The IMF third post-program monitoring mission led by David Hofman will work in Belarus on 18-29 October, BelTA learnt from the IMF Office in Belarus. “The purpose of the visit is to conduct the Third Post-Program Monitoring Review of the Belarusian economy, following the arrangement with the IMF that expired in April 2010. The report of the staff team will be discussed subsequently by the IMF Board. The visit provides an opportunity for the Belarusian authorities and the IMF staff to discuss the authorities’ policies and the prospects for the Belarusian economy in 2013,” the office informed. Belarus implemented the stand-by program supported by a $3.6-billion IMF loan in January 2009 – April 2010. Belarus shows its interest in a new program in cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.
