VITEBSK, 24 May (BelTA) – A Swedish crew, Patrik Flodin and Emil Axelsson, won the international Slavonic Cup rally that was held in Braslav and ended on 22 May, BelTA learnt from spokesman for the Belarusian Automobile Federation Danila Dolmatov.
Swedish racers, the Russian champions and the participants of the World Rally Championship, represented the Russian team Uspenskiy Rally Tecnica. The crew of Minsk residents Anatoly Shimakovsky-Igor Makarchuk came in twentieth. A total of 55 crews from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Lithuania took part in the rally.
The international rally was held in Belarus for the first time. The race was registered in an official calendar of the International Automobile Federation (FIA). The Slavonic Cup included one of the legs of the Belarusian Rally Championship and a leg of the Russian Rally Open Championship.
The international Slavonic Cup rally has become the biggest sports event held in Belarus. The route made up 385 kilometers, with speed special stages (jumping-off places and bends) of total 155 kilometers. According to Danila Dolmatov, the racers praised a high technical level of the route in Braslav, the town’s comfortable infrastructure.
