Presidium of Council of Ministers approves Programme of General Secondary Education Development for 2007-2016

The Presidium of the Council of Ministers of Belarus has approved in principle the Programme of General Secondary Education Development for 2007-2016 at a special session on May 29 chaired by First Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko.

In the next ten days, the amendments suggested during the session will be introduced into the draft program, Education Minister of Belarus Alexander Radkov told journalists. In his words, the problem of selection and training of pedagogic personnel needs a more precise reading. The standards used in establishments of secondary education need to be specified.

Alexander Radkov also reported that the members of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers insisted that the education technologies be health-friendly.

“The Programme of General Secondary Education Development for 2007-2016 is one of the most important state programmes as a child’s personality forms at school,” Alexander Radkov said. He said that the programme meets generally accepted standards, European and global education trends.
