Minsk hosts Blue Planet International Run

On June 24, Minsk welcomed the Blue Planet International Run in Pobediteli Prospekt, BelTA learnt in the press center of the Minsk City Council. 20 sportsmen from 13 countries take part in it.

The run is being held in Belarus on June 22-26.

Blue Planet Run started in New York on June 1. Its aim is to attract attention to the problem of water pollution and the problems of the health caused by the shortage of drinking water.

The length of the marathon is 24.3 thousand kilometers. It will span across 16 countries and 4 continents within 95 days. Sportsmen from Mexico, Russia, Great Britain, Austria, New Zealand, Argentina, Peru, Venezuela, the Czech Republic, Israel and other countries will run without breaks for 24hrs by turns.

The run will go through the territory of France, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Poland, Belarus, Russia, Mongolia, China and other countries. Batons will be handed in more than 1.5 thousand points. In London, the baton will be handed in Trafalgar Square, in Paris – by the Triumphal Arc. The race will come to an end in New York on September 4.

The run is held under the aegis of the UN and conducted by the UN Fund. In Belarus, the race is organized by CentrKurort state company.
