An Economic Expo of the Republic of Belarus will take place in Warsaw on June 26-29. The main purpose of the event is to represent the economic potential of Belarus and step up the trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Poland.
The press service of the Belarusian embassy in Poland told BelTA, the expo will gather around 100 Belarusian companies. In particular, such companies as Minsk Automobile Plant, Belarusian Autoworks, Minsk Tractor Works, mechanical engineering company Amkodor, Byelorussian Steel Works, agricultural machinery producer Gomselmash, Glass Works Neman, cardan shaft producer Belkard, OAO Lakokraska, petrochemical companies Polymir and Naftan, household chemistry producer Barhim, Klimovichi Distillery, Brest Distillery Company Belalco, distillery company Minsk-Kristall and others.
Meetings of representatives of business circles of the two countries will be held during the expo as well as seminars discussing banks and finances, civil engineering and tourism opportunities Belarus offers. Multiple presentations of Belarusian companies and their products will be held as well as tourist attractions of the country, including the Augustow Canal, and free economic zones.
Several Polish institutions, companies and business associations have expressed interest in the Belarus Economic Expo.
The trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Poland develops successfully. Last year the trade totalled $2.4 billion. In 2003-2006 the bilateral trade quadrupled.
At present there are around 40 companies with a share of Polish capital in Belarus. Polish companies’ interest in cooperation with Belarus is on the rise. Several companies of Poland’s top ten have showed such interest lately. A major Polish company is considering the possibility of assembling road and building machines in Poland using Belarusian assembly sets. Machines assembled in Poland using Belarusian assembly sets account for over 30% of the total number of new tractors in Poland.
Belarusian companies are working hard building up their presence in Poland. MAZ buses and BelAZ dump trucks have been successfully certified in Poland. Documents necessary to start selling Amkodor machines in Poland are being acquired.
As Poland has started renovating and creating new infrastructure for the 2012 European Football Championship, Belarusian companies will be able to take part in tenders and sell products, while construction companies will be able to build facilities in Poland.
