Aqua park to be built in resort town of Naroch

The construction of a modern centre of aquatic amusements will begin in the resort town of Naroch in June 2007, chairman of the Myadel district executive committee Alexander Danilenko told media today. The Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry organised an awareness tour for mass media around the National Park Narochanskiy, Postavy and Rossony districts on June 7-9.

The aqua park project needs around Br40 billion in investments. Planning work and examination are in progress. According to Alexander Danilenko, the project is unparalleled in Belarus.

The aqua park will offer year-round recreation opportunities for kids and their parents. The facility will have contemporary sport gear and a corresponding infrastructure.

Last year sanatoriums and resorts around Lake Naroch (13 facilities) attracted around 120,000 tourists. Over 64,000 Belarusians and foreigners bought trip tickets to get there.

The Myadel district is currently working hard promoting educational, recreational and ecological tourism, offering ornithological tours, pilgrimage as well as hunting and fishing. There are eight rural tourism estates registered in the district.
